Just down the street in Cleveland, I stumbled on this unique piece of …art? Graffiti? Visual goodness. Reminding me of children’s blocks more than early modernist art, I love the way it is both rainbow-colored and somehow blends into the chaos of the city street it inhabits, unobtrusively delighting passersby. Whoever repainted the wall brown, covering the older coat of grey, was similarly unsure what to make of the blocks—the painters stopped short of removing the sculpture, but also didn’t paint the gaps between the pieces in a manner that showed intent and care. I fully expect that next time I walk by this floating palace, it will be full of a myriad of Hot Wheels, tiny people, and various toy animals who have inhabited a wonderful little world. Thank you anonymous artist, whoever you are.
