A while ago now, driving through the outskirts of Las Vegas NM, I came across this artifact in a large, empty field. I excitedly parked my car, wandered up to it, and investigated. A painting? An installation? Earth art? How sublime that it transitioned from a landscape with a blue sky against a blue sky to an empty white space reaching up to the heavens. This is really quite something, I thought to myself, even in a state known for a generous smattering of special moments. After a digital roll’s worth of photos, upon leaving I took more time at the entrance to the field. And so I discovered… a drive-in movie theater. Even better.
